Crisis, crisis ?
September 18, 2008 by Andy · Leave a Comment
Medias are jubilant: they have something to eat…a financial crisis! A French archbishop said this in substance: “ a one who lives well and comfortable is a one who works hard…a multimillionaire is a thief..”
The human is a weird animal indeed. We can do the worst and the best, and at the same time we are quite unable to build for us all a peaceful easy life. The earth gives us all we need, but an insane few has got a sort of mental disease, that leads them to pile power and money though they do not even know how they could use it…just because this is not made to be used, but only to be piled.
It is the thought that counts…but not only!

It should be noted that homosexuality is not a disability in all areas. If gay ones may have problems in everyday life because of sexual behavior, it begins to exist associations, communities or even networks in which gay staff begin to practice a reverse discrimination favoring privileged posts access to homosexuals.
Gays are said to be accomplished masters in the art of spraying rumors about the power of their solidarity, and if it may be not still as important as one might believe that solidarity and mutual aid are nonetheless effective. The most telling example is the community of French freemasonry called “Children of Cambaceres” .We can read this on their site:
“Our fellowship, the first in the world of this kind, is composed of Brothers Sisters and various Obedience’s, who decided not to stay in withdrawal of civil society but to meet monthly to talk freely among themselves on issues never discussed in their respective workshops . It has an office of ten members and a charter very close to the ethical requirements required by all Obedience’s.
The children are fed with Cambacérès values of tolerance and progress, elevation of mind and spirituality they have received in their lodges and who honor the traditional and modern forms of Freemasonry. We are proud to be the custodians and heirs of it. We receive at our monthly dinners, intellectuals, men and women politicians, journalists, judges, officials of various associations, which are exchanged with us a large number of ideas, so as to reduce the scourge of homophobia.
Our fraternal has operated in a manner extremely confidential until when a magazine revealed the existence in laudatory terms. However, we found ourselves inadvertently in the glare of the media rampe. ”
It is logical that groups rise with the aim to fight against stupid and basic discrimination. My personal fear is that such movements usually tend to unconscious revenge…oppressed become oppressors… why not imagine a world in which heteros should have to hide? Of course I am kidding, but we all know what can be expected in a world that has for main moral value the power of money…and the virus goes deep into the society. I am personally always amazed when i see and old Grandma surviving with her pathetic monthly allowance, go and buy magazines just to ear about multimillionaire’s life? Here in France, our President uses to openly live as a millionaire, and when he says how much he deeply understands how hard the life of moneyless workers can be, there is no reaction.
Such an anesthesia, may be a global danger or an humus on which groups can grow and impose new mental attitudes…but in what direction?
We can expect anything in a world in which the main religions tend to be money
And profit. Can we still have dreams and projects when we note the dismal results of the deification of money. But although such an obedience refutes the “cult” side and claims to operate in a “democratic” system, although it claims not to be a secret society, but only a “discrete” one, I personally never had any reply to some questions directly sent on the site of the Grand Orient de France, about at least two of their members I know, who seemed to confuse the sense of “help others” and “exploit others”, and use and abuse of their situation among the Town hall, claiming that they possess mansions on the French Riviera! … So where the border between the discreet and the secret …island what should we believe among such is roaring sentences?
My comment is not intended to solve problems, or give lessons…just a question about how the solidarities born from all oppressions become effective for the few or for everyone. It is almost a fashion nowadays to claim the love of social justice … this speech unfortunately seems to barely be more than sentences!
It is logical to consolidate in order to fight against oppressing power. But it systematically creates an aristocracy who quickly forgets promises, except for itself of course. It probably explains why in rich countries can be found everywhere ghettos and poverty areas more or less localized or diffuse. The most powerful and rich country abandons veteran soldiers as tramps and beggars…it massively expulses families fired off from their job forced to pile their furniture on the sidewalks, because of banks that played the “monopoly” and which in the same time are sinking with too much incompetence … and also that refusal to admit the diseases that affect 40 000 rescuers from the World Trade center, many of whom already died in the most insensitive hypocrisy …But no wealthy country has to be jealous: I write today from France and here there are plenty of workers who have their car as only tenement!
Yes … gays are becoming a stronger community day after day, which is but justice after centuries of rejection. I just wish this community would avoid the pitfalls of power … and forget on the roadsides a part of the powerless homosexuals or not, who lack access to “good friends” or networks … and show the world that “difference” means “better”!
The times are changing, and it is obvious to note that gays begin to have access to power in politic areas and Medias…please, show the world that you are more than bankers!
Some thoughts by Patrice De L’Isle
What about Bryan Koci’s murder?
Many of you have probably heard about the murder of Bryan Koci, the founder of Cobra Video, in January 2007. It’s a complicated, torturous tale of human ambition and greed, and in short goes something like this:-
After a variety of business failures, Koci decided to enter the world of gay porn video production. It seems it was not in his nature to bother a great deal with the complexity of the law and as a result he quickly fell foul of the laws surrounding the employment of minors in such video shoots, particularly in respect of Sean Lockhart, who had not yet turned eighteen when the two met. In a bid to get Lockhart into his productions, Koci faked personal documents; whilst at the same time engaging in a personal love affair with the young man. Testimonials seems to suggest that Koci was a kind of mentor, whilst Lockhart (who by know had adopted the stagename of Brent Corrigan) clearly appreciated the somewhat cool life with easy money that the film producer could offer. For an exhaustive story, feel free to check the scores of websites that report the affair word for word, but let’s make it a little shorter and easier: Harlow Cuadra and Joseph Kerekes, two male escorts who produced gay porn movies that they then sold on the internet, wanted Lockhart as a recruit for their productions, but the young man was already under contract with Koci’s company, Cobra Video. The best solution they could come up with was to kill Koci - the only person who stood in the way of their plans. As a result, Koci was found dead by the firefighters who responded to a report of a house fire at his Midland Drive home on January 24th. He was 44 years old. Soon afterwards, police arrested Cuadra and Kerekes from Virginia Beach, a township of Dallas, Texas.
Koci died from a slash to the throat - the result of which had left blood everywhere, which explains why the killers had decided to set the house on fire. During the proceeding trial, the accused were also charged with racketeering, conspiracy to launder money and conspiracy to receive money from the earnings of prostitution.
Right from the start, the prosecution was seeking the death penalty, but at a preliminary hearing the judge ruled that there was insufficient evidence to charge the pair with robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery. As a result, prosecutors cannot seek the death penalty for the accused. The state, it seems, is keen to delay this highly sensational trial - something that leaves many people following the story to wonder why.

Gay and Lesbian Adults are Reading and Responding to More Blogs than Heterosexuals and more receptive to blog advertising
September 5, 2008 by Andy · Leave a Comment
By Matt Skallerud
According to a recent national survey conducted by Harris Interactive®, gay and lesbian adults online are reading more blogs than their heterosexual counterparts. When asked, just over half (51 percent) of the gay and lesbian respondents reported reading some type of blog, compared to 36 percent of heterosexual adults. A similar question on blog readership also was asked in November 2006, and at that time 32 percent of gay and lesbian adults then reported reading blogs.
The new nationwide survey of 2,733 U.S. adults, (ages 18 and over), of whom more than 13 percent, or 362, self identified as gay or lesbian (which includes an oversample of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender adults), was conducted online between March 11 and 19, 2008, by Harris Interactive, a global market research and consulting firm, in conjunction with Witeck-Combs Communications, Inc., a strategic public relations and marketing communications firm with special expertise in the GLBT market.
Gay and lesbian adults are also more active in and connected to the blog medium. When asked to choose from a list of online activities, 27 percent of gay and lesbian adults reported posting a comment on a blog in the last month, compared to 13 percent of heterosexuals. Also, more than one out of five (21%) gay and lesbian respondents said they had written a personal blog in the last month, compared to 7 percent of heterosexuals.
Regarding the varied interests of blogs, the survey found 28 percent of gay and lesbian adults reported reading news and current issue blogs, compared to 19 percent of heterosexuals. More than a quarter (26%) of gay and lesbian adults also read entertainment and pop culture blogs, compared to 11 percent of heterosexuals. Given the heightened interest in this year’s electoral contests, a significant number, nearly one-quarter (23%), of gay and lesbian adults also read political blogs. In comparison, only 14 percent of heterosexual adults reported reading political blogs.
Gay and lesbian adults also feel more positive towards advertisements found on blogs. Nearly one in five (19%) reported that they felt positive towards advertisements, compared to 8 percent of heterosexual adults. And in a similar study conducted two years ago, roughly the same proportion (21%) of gays and lesbians reported feeling positively towards blog ads.
“Studies consistently show that gays and lesbians are leaders in online usage, are very keen to find relevant and timely information, and feel more strongly about staying on top of latest trends,” said Wes Combs, President of Witeck-Combs Communications. “Blogs are fast shaping the media landscape, and it is one medium that marketers and advertisers can’t afford to ignore, especially when it comes to reaching gay and lesbian influencers, voters and consumers.”
Apart from blogs, gay and lesbian adults also participate in other online activities more than heterosexuals. Half (50%) of gay and lesbian adults say they have sent instant messages (IMs) in the last month, compared to just one third (34%) of heterosexual adults. When asked overall, in a typical month, how often they send instant messages to friends or other people, for reasons other than work-related tasks, 25 percent of gay adult men responded that they send instant messages at least once a day. In comparison, only 15 percent of heterosexual adult men said they did.
A similar trend can also be seen in online communities and dating websites. A majority (57%) of gay adult men online declare they are a member of a social networking web site, compared to 37 percent of heterosexual men. Also, two out of five (42 %) gay and lesbian adults have visited an online social community or network in the last month, compared with roughly a third (32%) of heterosexuals. Just over one-quarter (26%) of gay adult men reported visiting a dating or match-up site in the last month, compared to 9 percent of heterosexual male adults.
To see the data tables, please visit: www.witeckcombs.com/news/releases/20080418_harris.pdf or call 202-887-0500×19.
Methodology
Harris Interactive conducted the study online within the United States between March 11 and 19, 2008, among 2,733 adults (ages 18 and over), of whom 2,302 indicated they are heterosexual and 326 self-identified as gay or lesbian (this includes an over-sample of GLBT adults). No estimates of theoretical sampling error can be calculated; a full methodology is available.
